Dieses Projekt hat zum Ziel, die vorliegende Dokumentation zur Software-Suite Samba in der Release 3 ins Deutsche zu übersetzen. Dadurch soll Samba einer grösseren Anzahl von Benutzern zugänglich gemacht werden. Die erstellten Dokumentations-Texte sind in einem leicht zu wartenden Format und könnten daher Bestandteil zukünftiger Samba-Releases werden. Wir arbeiten in Einverständnis und Koordination mit dem Samba-Developer-Team. Es ist unser Ziel, das übersetzte Material dem offiziellen Samba-Projekt unter den originalen Lizenz-Bedingungen (der GPL) zur Verfügung zu stellen. Seit 18.11.2003 ist das Projekt am Laufen, mit 24.8.2004 dürfen wir vermelden, daß die erste vollständige Übersetzung der Samba-HOWTO-Collection vorliegt! Im Zuge des Projekts wurde der Fokus auch um die manpages erweitert. Vielen Dank an alle Freiwilligen! Den derzeitigen Stand der Übersetzung der HOWTOs kann man hier betrachten. 20.3.2005 : Die aktuelle Fassung der Dokumentation als PDF (Download) und HTML (online). Und seit neuestem auch in gedruckter Fassung:

The goal of this project is to translate the current documentation of the Software-Suite Samba in its release 3 into german language. Thereby Samba should be made more accessible to a greater number of users. The created documentation-texts are formatted to be easily maintainable and therefore could easily get part of future Samba-releases. We work in accordance and coordination with the Samba-Developer-Team. It is our intent to contribute the translated material to the official Samba project under the original license terms (the GPL). The project is up since the 18th of November, 2003, we now have the 24th of August, 2004, and are able to announce the first complete translation of the Samba-HOWTO-Collection! In the meantime the focus of our project has been enhanced, and there are also german manpages available. Thanks to all the volunteers ! You can see the actual process of the translated HOWTOs here.
